Janet Rubino Honored at Reception

A reception was held on Sunday, June 6 to bid farewell to Janet Rubino, our longtime Director of Religious Education (DRE) and Choir Director.

The reception included light refreshments while everyone enjoyed visiting with Janet and with each other. A multimedia presentation of memories from Janet's years at the church was projected on the wall for everyone to view during the reception.

Janet led the choir at St. Patrick originally on a volunteer basis before later taking on the official role of Choir Director and Director of Religious Education. For more than 20 years, she gave of herself in so many roles supporting the many Priests who pastored our church. Janet's passion came through in all she did, from amazing Vacation Bible School themes to her role as instructing those in the RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults) program, training ministers in their roles as Lectors, Altar Servers and Eucharistic Ministers and more.

She not only led the Adult Choir but also formed youth choirs for the Children's Mass on Christmas Eve. Janet was the stimulus behind the singing group "Relatively Speaking'" and “Absolute Presence”. She often played for weekend Masses and cantored, as well as for funerals and weddings when called upon. Her efforts in implementing our “parking lot Masses” during the pandemic were key in facilitating Sunday morning Mass during this critical time in our parish. Most recently, she helped to form the “Sacred 7” group which provided beautiful music at our Sunday morning Masses.

We wish Janet all the best in her new role. She will be greatly missed.
