With an air of excitement and patriotism filling the room, Greg T. Brasher was one of 43 Knights from all over the state of Alabama who went through the Fourth Degree Exemplification on Saturday, February 25 at Our Lady of the Valley. Greg, who is now a member of the Bishop Joseph A. Durick Assembly 2399 at St. Patrick, was accompanied to the Fourth Degree by brother Knights Gaeton Conte, Joseph Conte and Louis J. Muro. The Fourth Degree exemplifies the principle of Patriotism and is the final Degree taken by a Knight of Columbus. The principles of the first three Degrees are Charity, Unity and Fraternity, with Charity being the primary principle. The Fourth Degree at OLV was done in honor of Sir Knight Nick Renda for his lifetime of service in the Knights of Columbus. The Exemplification was held in the afternoon and was followed by Mass and a banquet that night. The guest speaker at the banquet was Vice Supreme Master Michael Horton and the master of ceremonies was Mike Renda. Fourth Degree Master of Alabama G. V. "Skip" Gentle presented the certificates to the candidates at the banquet, which was held in the OLV gymnasium.
