St. Patrick Knights of Columbus Council 10567 recognized Phil Troha as its Knight of the Year and Bobby and Pam Black as its Family of the Year during Awards Day at St. Patrick on Sunday, July 29.

The Knights also recognized Delaine Johnson as this year's recipient of the Louis N. Muro Memorial Scholarship Award.

Family of the Year honorees Bobby and Pam Black are a great Catholic family. Bobby Black joined the Knights of Columbus in 2008 and his wife Pam is a Past President of the Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxiliary. With their son Ed, Bobby and Pam have been fixtures at St. Patrick for many years and active participants in all activities. Recently Pam was on the team that helped organize the Journey Faith Sharing program.

Bobby, Pam and Ed are not only great parishioners but they are well known in the community through their work with the Autism Society of Alabama. Through their work, they have helped many parents deal with autism, both by educating them and by offering them their loving support. This is the true spirit of enhancing Christian family life.

For the example they have set as a Catholic Family, and for their service to St. Patrick and to all of us, Council 10567 is proud to honor the Bobby and Pam Black family as this year’s Knights of Columbus Family of the Year.

The Knights take great pride in honoring Phillip Troha as its Knight of the Year.

A 4th Degree Knight, Phillip is a charter member of the Council and has been a leader through all of the years, most recently serving as Church Director. He and his wife Cindy have known each since they were six-years-old and have been married for more than 30 years. They raised two wonderful children in this parish, Tracie and John Phillip, both of whom are now outstanding young adults.

Whether it be leading the Lenten Day of Service, serving as an Adult Leader in the SPIRIT Youth Group, or reading from the scriptures as a Lector, Phillip approaches everything he does with a great passion for his Church. Phillip believes in his Catholic faith and everyone looks upon him as a great role model and someone we look up to.

It is with great joy that we honor Phillip Troha with the Knight of the Year award.
