St. Patrick Catholic Church in Adamsville is excited to announce that its 35th annual Springfest celebration will be held on Sunday, March 17 from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m.
Yes, Springfest 35 has been set on St. Patrick’s Day, our patron’s feast day. When we began this wonderful tradition, it was held in conjunction with St. Patrick’s Day and its purpose was to gather parishioners and the community to enjoy food, fun and get to know each other.
Since St. Patrick’s Day falls on a Sunday, we decided this year to go back to our roots! The date is two months earlier than in previous years so mark your calendar. Save the date and get your chances to win!
We would like to extend a warm invitation to all our former parishioners to join us for a true homecoming as we observe 35 years of bonding together for the benefit of the parish.
Springfest chairperson Pam Palmer said, “I am proud to be working with such an amazing group of parishioners dedicated to making our Springfest celebration a tremendous success. We look forward to welcoming our friends and families back to St. Patrick on our patron's feast day for a wonderful day of food, fun and fellowship.”
Springfest has always been an annual tradition in western Jefferson County and in the Catholic Diocese of Birmingham. This year’s event will bring back one of the most popular activities enjoyed by so many at our very first Springfest: Bingo! Bingo will be played in St. Joseph Hall beginning at Noon and will go on throughout the afternoon. Cash prizes will be given and there is no age restriction to play.
A variety of meals will be available for eat in or take out. We will feature fried catfish, fried whole chicken wings, mac ‘n cheese, twice baked potato casserole, green beans and slaw. We will have homemade yeast rolls to go along with every meal. Prices will be $10 for a chicken plate (meat and two with roll) and $12 for the catfish. Meal will include drink and homemade desserts.
One of the most popular features of Springfest is our auction. This year, the auction will take on a new twist. There will be a limited number of items consisting of valuable special collections sponsored by the different groups in the parish. You will have an opportunity to place a bid on these items and a live auction will be held in St. Joseph Hall just prior to the raffle drawing for the grand prize. Knights of Columbus Council 10567 is raffling off a 1911 Kimber Custom 45 pistol with chances available at $5 each or six for $20.
Back by popular demand will be a commemorative Springfest t-shirt featuring our St. Patrick’s Day theme. Spin to win a home-baked cake for only 50 cents per chance. Also, if you are a gardener you will enjoy picking up a few new treasures at our plant sale.
Children will be well entertained with fun games that allow them to win prizes. We will also have inflatables and a variety of bouncy houses. Hot dogs, nachos and other treats will be served in the Raymond J. Murrin Family Life Center.
New this year is our Trash & Treasure area. If you attended our Clean Out for Christ yard sale in October of 2018, you will see similar tremendous bargains beginning Friday, March 15 (two days before Springfest), continuing on Saturday, and then on Springfest Day. Also included will be our Crafting for Christ items which are unique handmade products donated by our parishioners to benefit the sale. Donations are currently being accepted and will be accepted up until February 17th.
We have a number of vendors who will be exhibiting and selling their products and services. Anyone interested in becoming a vendor should contact Pam Palmer. For a list of vendors and contact information, visit www.SaintPatrickcc.com/Vendors.
Chances for the $2,000 grand prize are already on sale. Purchase a single raffle ticket for a $1 donation and you could win the grand prize or one of the 10 separate drawings for $100 cash. The $100 drawings begin at 1 p.m. and will end with the grand prize drawing of $2,000 at 3 p.m. You do not have to be present to win. Purchase raffle chances (12 for $10 or 6 for $5) from any parishioner or contact the church office. Purchase a raffle ticket for the gun raffle from any Knights member or email email@example.com to request yours.
As always, admission to the event is free and parking is available right on the church grounds. Those who wish may attend the 10 a.m. Mass just prior to the start of Springfest 35. Shop our Trash and Treasure sale on Saturday and stay for our 4:00 Mass that evening.
Download our menu, have a peek at the silent auction items, a sampling of our Trash & Treasure offerings, or contact one of our committee members via our website at www.saintpatrickcc.com/Springfest. You may also contact the church office at (205) 798-5326 for more information.
Proceeds from Springfest go toward the church’s building fund. St. Patrick is located at 301 Shamrock Trail next to Minor High School on Minor Parkway in Adamsville.
