Pat Roden, President of the St. Patrick Chapter of the organization, said “St. Vincent de Paul is an International Lay Organization whose mission is to spread the Word of God thru ministering to the poor. We are unique in that we work one-on-one with the poor. We conduct home visits to see and hear their needs. We do not just give handouts, but we seek to find solutions to help them live a better life, while spreading the Gospel. We do everything from provide groceries, pay utility bills, repair a vehicle so a client can get to work, to even as simple as buying school clothes for a child so he/she can fit in. Sometimes it is just listening to their story. We rely on donations and fund raisers, so it is an honor to be chosen by the St. Patrick Knights of Columbus to be the spotlight charity for this year’s Jerome C. Bradley Dinner Dance. Jesus said, “There will always be the poor.” So if we can help a struggling family to make the power bill payment, then we have fulfilled our mission. The needs are great and resources are limited. So thank you from the Society of St. Vincent de Paul and our clients.”
Named in honor of the late Jerome C. Bradley, who was instrumental in starting the Dinner Dance in 2002, this has become a popular and fun event that supports the many worthwhile causes selected by Council 10567 during the year.
A $100 ticket admits two and includes a buffet dinner, beer and wine, and music and dancing provided by a professional dj.
