A special Mass on Saturday, June 12, began the celebration of Father Vernon Huguley's 17th anniversary of his ordination to the priesthood. Father's long-time friend and fellow seminarian, Brother Henry (from South Carolina), as well as his spiritual mom (now 101 years old) joined him on this special day as parishioners listened Father share his memories of his years as a priest. After Communion, a special prayer was led by Father's admnistrative assistant. All joined in this prayer (which may be viewed and downloaded by clicking on the link within this news article).
Father Vernon was ordained on June 12, 1993 at St. Paul's Cathedral. He had a wonderful photo album available in the Family Life Center at the reception and many in attendance perused the photos of the events in the early days as well as those leading up to this wonderful celebration.
Refreshments included various salads, seasoned crackers, punch and homemade cupcakes. As usual, Father Vernon prepared some of the goodies supported by Barrett Duchock who prepared much of the food and did a wonderful job of serving the guests.
