Our children began their Lenten Journey by attending Ash Wednesday services together. During our classes we talked about what Lent means and how we can have a closer relationship with God. We studied about our sinfulness and the sacrifice of Jesus on the cross. We also learned about forgiveness and how much our merciful Father loves us and wants us to turn away from sin. Each of the children had their own little sacrifices and offerings during Lent, but Fr. Vernon spoke with the children and encouraged them to think of something they could do to help others. After his call to action, the Faith Formation students participated in the Red Envelope Project. Each student wrote a pro-life message on a red envelope and addressed it to President Obama. The students gathered for prayer over the envelopes on March 25, 2009 and the envelopes were sent to Washington, DC on March 31st as directed. The Catholic News agencies reported that over 2.25 Million red envelopes came through the Washington, DC postal service. Our children can make a difference in the lives of the unborn!!
Thanks to all the children for making our Lenten Project a huge success!!!
