Knights of Columbus Council 10567 is proud to announce that Jeff Blanchard and Fernando Medina are the 2014 recipients of the Louis N. Muro Memorial Scholarship.
Jeff Blanchard, the son of Dale and Jane Blanchard, had a 3.84 GPA at Minor High School and was a leader in the SPIRIT Youth Group and Columbian Squires Circle 4481. Jeff has served St. Patrick as an altar server, usher, and as an active volunteer at numerous parish functions over the years. He is an Eagle Scout and was a member of the National Honor Society while at Minor. Jeff plans to attend the University of Alabama with the hopes of someday becoming a History professor. Jeff’s grandfather Charles and his father Dale are both Charter Members of Council 10567 and his brothers Doug and Jeremy are both current members.
Fernando Medina participated in the Science Olympiad and was a member of the Student Council at Minor High School. He has been active in community activities, serving as a team leader on the Village Creek Cleanup project. Fernando was involved in wrestling, cross country, Art Club, and was a member of the Multi-Cultural Heritage Club. He also was president of the Students Against Destructive Decisions (S.A.D.D.).
Jeff and Fernando become the 38th and 39th recipients of this scholarship that was instituted in 1995. Applicants are selected based on high academic achievement, outstanding service to Church, participation in church youth activities and service to Community. The scholarship is named in honor of Louis N. Muro, the Charter Grand Knight of Council 10567. Congratulations to Jeff Blanchard and Fernando Medina.
