Annette with her Angel Brick (painted by Janet Rubino)
The St. Patrick Choir gathered in usual tradition for a Christmas Party on Sunday, December 11. Yes, we had tasty food prepared and contributed by all the choir members and some great dishes and desserts as we gathered to celebrate the season as a ministry group. But this year, our "Dirty Santa" game turned interesting for one of our choir members, Annette Smith. Christmas took on a bit of a different meaning at this year's party.
Around 20 in attendance brought gifts (ornaments mostly but other gifts as well). As we drew the numbers and began pulling them out of the basket to begin the selection and opening of gifts, we all knew that regardless of who got what gift, we had a special plan in mind for all the gifts.
So at the end of our gift exchange, Annette and Frank Smith were presented with all the gifts that had been opened, stolen or otherwise. Because their home suffered from the April tornadoes, we thought they could use some new Christmas Cheer for their new home. She was very excited. "I have a full heart. I have the best friends, and my Choir is awesome.. I love you all."
In addition, the choir presented a new set of queen-sized sheets (which she loved!) and Janet presented her with a paver from her old house and a brick on which angels were painted. Janet commented, "The angels were certainly watching over you that day." All were excited to see the joy on Annette's face as the plot was revealed. We are so thankful to have the gift of their presence among us having survived the tornado's fury.
Merry Christmas to all from the St. Patrick Choir!
