Sunday, January 3, was the Feast of the Epiphany. It was also the day parishioners came together in the St. Joseph Hall to participate in a prayer service observing the joyous occasion of the fulfillment of the rectory mortgage. Fr. Vernon lead the service and Anthony Brooklere proclaimed the reading. All participated in responses and the choir led the music. And yes, Father Vernon really did light a fire to the amortization schedule signifying that the last payment indeed has been paid. Father praised the generosity of the parish in satisfying the mortgage well ahead of the anticipated pay-off date.
There was plenty of food and smiles as parishioners enjoyed a virtual smorgasboard of home made dishes.
