St. Patrick Parishioner Mrs. Margaret Mackinaw Passes Away

Our sympathy to the entire Mackinaw family upon the death of Mrs. Margaret Mackinaw.

Eternal rest grant unto Her, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon Her. May the souls of the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.    

MACKINAW, MARGARET ALYCE BOWERS, age 94, born February 9, 1914, of Birmingham, Alabama, passed away peacefully at her home Sunday, December 14, 2008 encircled by her family. She was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Adamsville, a former member of St. Catherine's Church in Pratt City. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 63 years, Hugh Francis Mackinaw, Sr.; parents, George Bowers and Alyce Scheuermann Bowers of Acipco; sisters, Claremont Lane and Hope Barnes; son, Hugh Francis Mackinaw, Jr., grandsons, David Nelson, Christopher Mackinaw, Jr., and Michael Mackinaw, Jr.; great-grandson, William Allen Wilson. Survivors include her children: Peggy Scott (Ron), George Mackinaw (Judy), Annemarie Mackinaw, John Mackinaw (Katy), Mary Garzarek (Frank), Steve Mackinaw (Beth), Moni Zimmerman (Leigh), Chris Mackinaw (Jeri), Pat, Tim, Denis, and Michael Mackinaw; twenty seven grandchildren, thirty seven great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren. The family would like to express their sincere gratitude for the kindness of her caregivers, Mary Canty and Reymona Sanders, and her Odyssey Hospice nurse Pearlie Bearden. They all were angels during this difficult time. Visitation will begin at 5:00 p.m. Friday, December 19, 2008 with Rosary Service at 6:00 p.m. at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Adamsville. Funeral Mass at the church on Saturday, December 20, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. with burial following in Elmwood Cemetery. Father Vernon Huguley officiating. Bell Funeral Home Forestdale directing.
