Oscar Grayson "Sonny" Sorrell was just 58-years-old when he died on May 2, 2005.

Sonny served two tours of duty in Vietnam with the United States Marine Corp. He continued his education and graduated from Cameron University with honors in Criminal Justice. His professional career included 26 years military service. He was a Purple Heart recipient. He also served as a police officer in Birmingham, Irondale and Oakman.

Sonny joined the Knights of Columbus in 1998 and was a Third Degree Knight.
