Steve Thomas Sokira of Brookside passed away on Tuesday, June 30, 2009 at the age of 87.

Mr. Sokira was a charter member of Knights of Columbus Council 10567, a World War II Veteran and a member of Brookside V F W Post 6173. Funeral Services were held on Thursday, July 2nd at St. Patrick Catholic Church and Mr. Sokira was buried in St. Michael's Cemetery.

Mr. Sokira was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Sokira; parents, John and Anne; brothers, Charles, Frank, Mike and Thomas; sisters, Pauline, Elizabeth and Helen. He is survived by his stepchildren, Alexis Taft, Jimmie Sue Bohannon (Bo) and Elizabeth Kerr; grandchild, Brett Taft; sister, Beatrice Keating, brother, Johnny Sokira and several nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.
